List "50 Highest Eastern County Highpoints" By wayfarer
Notes: This is a list of the 50 highest Eastern U.S. summits that are county highpoints, not to be confused with the 50 highest counties which would be a shorter list - as six of these summits are the highest point in two bordering counties. The total number will exceed 50 because there are a few counties with more than one peak contending for the high point. Because of those uncertainties, one should climb all contending peaks in order to claim the county. These include Bald Knob, Cheat Mountain, and Thorny Benchmark for Pocahontas County, WV; also Camp Creek Bald and Gravel Knob for Greene County, TN. There is also a contender for Cherokee County, NC that is not currently in the LOJ database. That spot is at the junction of the Cherokee-Graham-Monroe County borders and southwest of 5,340' Laurel Top.
