List "Idaho's Smoky Mountains" By The Scrambler

Notes: The Smoky Mountains are bordered by ID-75 to the east, the Soldier and Boise Mountains to the west, the Sawtooth Mountains to the north, and US-20 to the south. The northern border is a bit murky. I discussed this matter with Tom Lopez, author of Idaho: A Climbing Guide, and the renowned authority on Idaho's mountains. There is a high ridgeline southwest of Galena Summit that serves as the northern border of the Smoky Mountains. The ridgeline itself is considered to be Sawtooth Mountains, contrary to the map's mis-labeling this ridge as "Smoky Mountains."

The northwest corner of the Smoky Mountains is near Marshall Peak which, according to Tom, is in the Smoky Mountains. The three peaks at the headwaters of the South Fork Boise River (Peak 9805, Peak 9011, and Peak 9303) are not considered to be part of the Smoky Mountains. The Smoky Mountains are located east of the South Fork Boise River and south of the high ridgeline that is the south end of the Sawtooth Mountains.
