If anyone out there is looking to do peaks in the ABQ area (or other NM areas) let me know. I'm up for hiking or technical peaks.

I've been wanting to try out Cerro Alesna given its steepness rating (#1 in NM for steepest minimum angle in 100 meter radius). Could be a miserably loose technical ascent. Potentially dangerous if nothing else. Other volcanic plugs in the area could be interesting also, also in the top 100 steepness list above (Cerro Chaves, Cerro Parido). Might head that way maybe sometime in April/early May. Angel Peak looks interesting also, maybe too much so.

I'm up for any of those peaks. I just did a few more plugs near Cabezon and I really enjoyed them. Angel Peak looks great but is a bit of a drive so I'd prefer hitting some of the others first. I'm available 24 and 25 April and if needed I could take a day or two off of work. Let me know...

FYI
Cerro Alesna is owned by a private coal mining company:
Lee Ranch Coal Company

Summitpost relays that info also. Trespassing is not on my list of worries considering what else could go wrong on this one. Looks like there is NF land less than a mile east of the peak, but might not be easy to get to (depends on whether driving through the San Miguel Ranch is an option). Might be worth a call to Lee Ranch anyway.
