Collegiate Peaks

Postby DSunwall » Thu Nov 27, 2008 10:05 pm

A good portion of this 150 mile border is marked on the USGS maps. A couple of places were different than the TI map however, I went with the TI border but it did not effect the peak count.

I do have that, but I'm used too Excel so Openoffice is awkward for me, and I couldn't find a text to columns tool. I think I also have the Corel Office suite that came with my PC software, it might have that feature.

Edit: looks like I just need to update my OpenOffice Calc.

csv is fine. Looks like Open Office has improved over the years. It was seriously lacking last time I looked in 2005.

email from Lat40 Maps in regards to my question about where they get Wilderness boundary information.

Hello Dwight,

Lat 40 gets their information from a variety of sources such as other maps, data from personal sources, and USGS information. Glad you enjoy our maps!

Thanks,
Reba

I picked up a Black Canyon TI map, it has good borders. I also have the RMNP map which has most of the Never summer.

The Black Canyon Map I just bought was revised in 2000, the map you have a link too shows modifications made in 2003. In comparing I see the TI map does have the east private land with NPS Conservation Easement but not that southern middle section. It also does not have the dark green areas - private land Authorized for addition to NP. I will try to designate peaks in those areas, although I may not be able to get precise.

Looking at the RMNP map I noticed a Bowen Gulch protection area, looking for information on that I found IRA'a and CRA's, Inventoried Roadless Areas and Colorado Roadless areas.

There is also a James Peak protection area, unless that is old information and that area is now the wilderness area. I'll check later.

Black Canyon

with notes for the various boundaries, easements, and authorized for addition.

I have Dead horse in the CSV file but in further review I am convinced it is not in the NP or WA or future additions.

Reloaded the CSV file, mistakes were made.

Thanks - I can't remember offhand - is the Wilderness a subset of the NP (therefore any WA is also NP)?

It is the other way, the NP is a subset of the Wilderness Area.
