14er record attempt - John Prater

Postby John Kirk » Thu Aug 23, 2012 3:30 pm

Just a heads up for those who may not know, John Prater, an active member and original contributor to this site, is currently going after the 14er speed record, and is off to an awesome start:

Blog

As a recent Leadville 100 completer, I still can't imagine the magnitude of this feat of endurance.
Go get it John!!

Looked like he had a wet time of it in the Wilson group. Hopefully the bad weather will hold off his peaks in the future.

It is fun to watch his progress via his Spot.

Yes, extremely captivating to watch this unfold. I'm awed with the kind of preparation and planning that has to go into this kind of event. His body is going to get ripped to pieces peak by peak, day by day. But if anyone can do it he can. Go John!

Somebody needs to update his LOJ peak list as he goes, but at the moment that is probably the least of his concerns! :-D It's going to be pretty cool to see all of them listed in a span of ten days.

Extremely valiant effort, John. You've shown that you're clearly capable of owning the record sans injuries. It was amazing to behold!

Like so many others, I was glued to my computer or phone, not getting much work done, watching your progress. I still can't comprehend how any human could possibly attempt something like this for so many days in a row. Well done!

Hope you take a nice long break before you run up Green Mountain again!

Amazing effort, John. Like others, I dug a little deeper in a 5 mile run today, thinking of your adventure. Thanks for letting us follow along!
