Never Summer Peak

John,

Lisa Foster's RMNP book lists the unranked point 12,442 to the Northwest of Bowen Mtn as Never Summer Peak.

Interesting... For those who may not already know, this peak one quadrangle north bears the same unofficial name (from Gerry's lists).
:worms:
I could see this creating some confusion, but it meets inclusion criteria:

I thought that it sounded familiar. Should have known better since I climbed it last fall!

Wow, thats a strange coincidence. Or screwup...

While we're on the subject of peaks named in Fosters book, I see that "Little No Name" (http://www.listsofjohn.com/PeakStats/Climbers.php?Id=112576) is listed but not "Middle No Name". Is this due to there being no closed contour on the maps to work from or was it missed?

No closed contour, and no spot elevation to use.

John - looks like you need to add this peak to Never Summer Wldn & Continental Divide lists...

I see also in Lisa's book on pages 336-7 that she shows pt 12438 as "Jiffy Pop Pk".

It would seem to make more sense that the 12442' peak in the Never Summer Wilderness (& on CD) is called "Never Summer Peak", and the 12438 pt in RMNP (not on CD and not in the Wldn) is called something else.

No need for two "Never Summer Peak" (s).

The 12,438 "Never Summer Peak" has 17 years of precedence over the Foster 12,442 unranked point or "Jiffy Pop Pk" (Roach's 1st edition was 1988).

Hopefully Gerry will comment on why 12438 is called Never Summer Pk yet not in the Never Summer Wldn (est 1980).

Perhaps because it's a member of the Never Summer Range? :-D

Maybe worth noting on their separate pages where the names appear?
