Mike Rodenak completes Lake County!

Postby Steve Knapp » Sun Sep 25, 2011 10:49 pm

While perhaps paling to some of the other accomplishments recorded this weekend, Mike was able to complete the 47 ranked peaks Lake county today. Even better, this was Mike's first county completion! Mike, Brian and I had a nice 18.5 mile 5-peak tundra romp on South Peak, 12454, 12306 (the final Lake county peak for Mike), 12135, and 12132. This was a very enjoyable outing covering parts of three counties and a full traverse of the South Peak quad. I loved the final scramble on 12135.

Well done Mike, I'm glad I could join you for this today!

Congrats again, Mike!
Lake county should appeal to the alpine lovers as the peaks have an average elevation of 13090', second to only San Juan county in CO.

Thanks guys for tagging along for the finisher! Its been a long time coming to finish one of these county lists, but I guess I just like to spread my climbs around and not focus on one area. A rising tide raises all lists or something like that.

Its a great list for high alpine climbers, 20 of the peaks are in the highest 200 with 11 of those in the highest 100. Only 5 peaks are below 12k, and the public access is really good, I can't think of anything aside from Bartlett that can't be done on public land. Chalk is private from Fremont Pass, but you can get around to the Chalk Creek side and keep it public.

Well done, Mike. Lake looks like an excellent list, and public access is a big bonus.

Now are you going to get serious about Eagle????
