Yertle Mountain, 7,924', JeffCo

Postby Jeremy Hakes » Tue Mar 09, 2010 10:34 am

Recently came across a named not ranked JeffCo peak, Yertle Mountain, 7,924. Parent peak would be 8,161' (I believe this is incorrectly noted as 8,140'), and I think the saddle would be 7780', with a prominence of 224'. This COULD be the spire I climbed a few years ago, or it might be something different. I'll reinspect it soon. Any thoughts?

We've been through this type of thing enough - LOJ IS NOT USING DATASHEETS FOR ELEVATIONS as they are from a completely different agency than the USGS and have geoid adjusted elevation estimates from DEM data.

As for Yertle - that is the only thing around that matches up to the large spire in the area - is that from a Trails Illustrated Map?

Also 7924 - 7780 = 144

Ha! Math skills not so great at work under duress, evidently.

As far as the USGS etc. I don't know enough about the rest of it to even respond intelligently. elmo

No, it is a SingleTrack Map - www.singletrackmapping.com

Haven't seen them much before...
