Chief Mountain 11,709'

Looking at the Mount Evans Wilderness Peak list, I see that Chief Mountain is listed, however while the southwest shoulder of Chief is in the Wilderness the actual summit of Chief is not.

What map are you looking at?

The 1:100k USGS map shows Chief is in the Wilderness.

the map on wilderness.net shows the boundary making a loop out to catch the summit.

GIS Boundaries are not very accurate, at least all those I've seen.

My old TI map shows it out of the wilderness, I'm not sure anyone really knows, we might as well call it in.

I'm looking at the Idaho Springs Trails Illustrated map, but when I look at:

it would seem to agree with the Wilderness.net map, so my original statement would appear to be incorrect. I guess that is what I get for believing in the TI map

There are a lot of other similar cases that come to mind, where the boundaries provided by sources do not line up with the quads. The position we've taken is to include when in doubt. Better safe than sorry, as having an extra "maybe" peak puts the confidence % up higher that the list is not lacking any peaks.
