Rocky Mountain National Park list?

Hey John, I was wondering if you have plans on a RMNP named peak list. I know I'm going for this list as well as named peaks in the IPW. Not that you dont have enough to keep you busy, just curious.

I was just talking about this with Kurt Traskos yesterday while we were hiking out after the Triple Crown (McHenrys, Alice, Chiefs Head). It will be up this week. The progress will be derived from updates to the elevation ranges. For example, if you've checked off Longs Peak from the 14ers list, it also counts automatically for RMNP.

excellent, thanks John.

edit: Will named, but unranked peaks such as Arrowhead be under a list?

What about unnamed but ranked peaks in the Park?

It seems that if one wanted to "climb everything in the Park", that would include all the peaks, named or not.

Does anyone know how many of these exist?

The list is up, but it is a bit different than Gerry's published list -there are several peaks not actually in the Park counted as such. The following are thus not included:
NameElevation
Ogalalla Peak13138
Elk Tooth12848
Comanche Peak B12702
Point 1271612716
Watanga Mountain12375
Point 1230812308
Saint Vrain Mountain12162
Twin Peaks D11957
Castle Mountain B8834

John, the boundary of the Park has changed over the years and some of those updates are not reflected on the 7.5' maps (the 100K maps do reflect the southern boundary change). This map isn't the best, but I presume it shows the correct boundary. Looking at the boundary shown on the NG/Trails Illustrated RMNP map, all of the peaks that you list above are in the Park.

Thanks for putting up this list!

OK, makes sense now. I thought the 100k maps in topozone were just in error. Here's a question - the southern peaks are also listed as IPW. Should they really be both?

I'd say yes, these peaks on the boundary should be listed as both RMNP and IPW. Just like we include peaks on county boundaries in both counties.

Alright - will have the IPW list up soon as well. I'm going to make sure we don't have any within the boundaries not included in Gerry's lists also. Lost Creek Wilderness will be added after that.
