Squaw Pass Road

Is this open in the winter? From John's TR here, it sounds like you started your Warrior Mtn(shouldn't you have 10 11ers?) hike from the road where it passes by the peak, then went over to Chief/Papoose from there? Magically, 11ers are suddenly more interesting to me :wiz:

I made last-minute plans to hike today, but got out late and hit horrible traffic around Idaho Springs. So, I turned around and found the Squaw Pass Rd as a back-up.

So, to answer my own question, yes the road is open and plowed, although much of it has a thin coating of snow.

Erin and I went for Warrior last year after Chief, but it turned out we climbed the wrong peak. I was wishing I had GPS that day!
