Active X Controls?

Postby petekrz » Sun Sep 28, 2008 6:35 pm

John,

I've never had this problem...but today, I can not log in to the page where I normally enter in my climbed peaks. I get a white page that says something about my security controls and mentions Active X controls. I've tried looking at my security settings and enabling active x controls....but nothing seems to work. Yesterday, I was able to log in without a problem.

I'm somewhat computer illiterate.....so I may be missing something very simple. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Can you help me eliminate some guesswork by posting the url that is giving you the error (the address)?

I'm not able to reproduce this problem, and my site does not use active-x anywhere.

Maybe you both have a virus?

I didn't have any problem from my work computer this morning, just my home computer last night.

better not be a virus, I have protection, dam it. But I'll do a scan tonight.

Do each of you use a different version of windows or a different browser than at home?

XP at work and older windows at home. I've been switching between IE something at home and Chrome, as well as work. I think I was using IE when I tried last night. I got in with Chrome this morning at work.

Actually it does - I thought maybe this was maybe a Windows Vista update causing it.

Interesting that Firefox errored as well - was there an ActiveX message for Firefox too (this would be interesting because ActiveX isn't supported by Firefox without plugins)?

Strange - Probably something temporarily wrong with with server that hosts my site, and probably not related to ActiveX.
