How many of the ranked 13ers and 14ers are there in the 1000'+ prominent peak list?
And how many county high points are ranked 13ers & 14ers and in the top 100 and 1000'+ prominence list?
Distribution of prominence peaks by elevation is an interesting thing to look at. My guess is that there are more 12ers (not that many more on average, though.... 12.7% of 13ers vs. 13.2% of 12ers) because there are only select places in the state that exceed 13K'. It's "easier" to exceed 12K' than 13K', if that makes any sense. So because prominence rewards highpoints of an area, and because 12ers can be found in more parts of the state, I'm thinking that that's your reason.89 of the 12ers, 12ers are on average more prominent than the 13ers, why do you suppose that is?
