Isolation List

Postby Layne Bracy » Thu Mar 01, 2007 7:19 pm

John: Does the isolation list take into account out-of-state peaks which would limit the isolation? Specifically, the peak in Weld County which is number 5 on the list with an isolation of 50+ miles - can I assume there are no Wyoming peaks which might limit its isolation?

I'm not really doubting the list but just thought I'd verify in case I ever decide to hunt some of these random peaks down!

Thanks, Layne

Anything with more than 5 miles isolation that is a 'border county' peak has been checked. In this instance, the closest WY peak is Saddleback Mountain A in WY, which is over 59 miles away.

Excellent, thanks! Looks like it's in the Pawnee Nat'l Grassland, meaning there shouldn't be access issues.

Speaking of which, here is Utah's isolation list (done by same method):
