Isolation of High Hill (Long Island HP)

Postby JLBrekhus » Tue Apr 04, 2017 4:01 pm

Isolation of High Hill is given as 28.66 miles to Buttermilk Hill, but the distance calculator shows 40.8153°N, 73.4251°W is 26.89 miles from 41.0439°N, 73.8413°W. That is the distance to 543 in Westchester County. The prominence for that peak is listed as 338. So it seems to me that High Hill should have an isolation of 26.89. The elevation of 543 is higher than High Hill (390), and it closer than Buttermilk Hill. What am I missing here?

Updated. Looks like 543 was a peak found via NED analysis after the rest of NY was originally listed.
