Ranked summit in Utah missed on LoJ

There is a Utah summit missed on LoJ due to a contour error on the contour map.

Coordinates:

37.41811,-110.16284

The map is wrong, the creek/creek-bed actually cuts through the rock wall where the red line is marked (approximate). The big bed around hasn't been the creekbed for probably thousands of years and is an interesting abandoned meander.



Here is a photograph from yesterday of where the creek cuts through the wall:



Interpolated rise should actually be 320', though this should be verified by LiDAR.

The saddle should actually be in the old creek bed somewhere to the west or northwest of the summit.

It's a well known place known as The Narrows, but I didn't notice the 7.5 minute map was wrong until we were there last weekend and that the summit should be ranked. The map is also wrong at the next bend up canyon too as the actual creek bed is where the trail is shown, but that summit isn't ranked.

Is the summit easily reachable?

The peak is definitely technical.

Very cool! It would be fun to explore around and see if there could be a possible non-technical route up through a series of ledges, just in case. Makes me want to visit SE Utah this spring! ;-)

The summit rock would still be technical for sure, but it would be neat to find a way up there.

Yeah, I see those summit rocks casting shadows, indicating they're likely tens of feet tall.

LiDAR for this came out late last week. While it's true that the saddle is not to its east, the saddle is even higher than the map indicates regardless of location at 4,807'. So at 216 prom it's pretty far from being ranked. Checked the neighboring summit to the east, also misses with only 169' prom.

Dang, thanks for checking. The contours are really confusing in that area.
