| On the drive down to Texas for Thanksgiving, we stopped in Albuquerque at a Comfort Inn, which was a mistake. In New Mexico odds are good that you will have busted windows at some point, which reminded me of many reasons why I left the state (in addition to the fact that upstanding New Mexican citizens had done this to my vehicles three times previously). So with a box and duct tape, we fit right in having a patched quarterpanel heading south on I-25 through Albuquerque. It was difficult to muster the willpower to drive up South Baldy after some of my family's Christmas presents were taken off our hands, but I was determined to make something of the day. We got out on the road near the gate and began hiking up in windy and cold sunshine (photo of objective on right). It was a very quick jog to the top with some unique views to the east I had hitherto always seen from only highway elevation.
