The last of the Colorado Plains Counties to claim, Weld had been put off for some time later in the year. Coincidentally, Teresa Gergen and Kirk Mallory had this one left to do in addition to Ryan Schilling and Erin Burr in our party. Teresa obtained permission and kindly passed along the info to us. At the ranch at 7:30 a.m., we discussed matters far less trivial than the highpoint we were to obtain. It was a silly outing for such accomplished (not referring to myself) climbers, though the weather was chilly enough that I was grateful we were allowed to drive all the way to the top - kudos to Teresa. The wind-powered generators were a spectacle to behold, and as the morning progressed, snow accumulations on the blades began to threaten us like open bombay doors.
