Greenhorn Mountain 12,347' (Pueblo County Highpoint) 09/27/03

After a few weeks of following my physical therapy program, I needed to test its success. Clay and Heather were kind enough to join me for this short hike. With good weather forecasts, we didn't mind arriving at the trailhead at noon. Finding the first switchback was a little problematic, so we ascended the West Slope until we intersected the trail again. We reached the saddle at 12:30. The undulating ridge to the South was a pretty sight (considering the other views I've been afforded of late). On the right, the rest of the route to the summit is shown. The last stretch to the summit ridge required enough vigor to let me know I am not in the shape I was in the summer. picture

I had a twinge of the same pain I had after Utah, which began once on the road back to the trailhead, and subsided after an hour or so. I have gained a lot of confidence in the effectiveness of my physical therapy, and I'll hopefully be able to tackle bigger objectives soon.
