| My parents were in town for a visit, and an easy scenic hike was on my Dad's agenda, so we headed to Deer Creek Park to take on this seemingly easy peak. We inadvertently hiked in a loop by taking the first Plymouth Mountain trail junction (my lack of map study yielded this result). There were some good views of Bill Couch Mountain, the urban sprawl below to the east, and more trees that we wouldn't have seen otherwise (rationalizing). We arrived at the summit a little surprised to see the relatively large summit boulder. An easy chimney move on the north side (photo below is from the south and route is hidden) and some friction attained the summit. My dad is featured in the summit photo having a seat. Our trip down was much more expedient taking the east-west trail that is further along the primary trail. |
