The morning started out with a search for access to Mount Warren and Sampson Mountain. This was fruitless, so I headed back up the highway to park underneath Deer Mountain. The oak thicket made its presence known rather quickly. It was not easy to refrain from making a lot of noise as I traversed a couple hundred yards above property lots. Soon, I reached a saddle and the cessation of the oak battle, for now. From the summit, there was a nice view of Pyramid Peak, the next objective once I could find a place to park without strange gawks from the local resident traffic. The trip down was uneventful, though filled with the protesting ambience of dogs' barks below.

There was a reasonable pullout near the northeast flanks of Pyramid Peak. An easy ridge walk through the trees netted the summit, where thicket intervened again briefly. There was a register left predictably by Mike Garratt.
