Bill Couch Mountain - 7,082' 03/19/2005

I talked Leah into hanging out with the baby at Southwest Plaza at 4:00 p.m. while I bagged this one. The melted snow made the trail slippery, and ultimately on the return to the car I succumbed to sprawling in the mud after losing my footing. The trail is very straightforward, but gains elevation slowly. I bushwhacked up the east slope of Bill Couch and made the summit in 37 minutes. A deer awaited at the summit. Below left is a view of Plymouth Mountain from the summit. It was a nice change to be hiking Jeffco Open Space vs. the usual 'not'. The Deer Creek Park trails lead to several other Jeffco Named summits, and if not for my time constraints, would have done them all. I'll still enjoy coming back to this area.
