"Epaulie" and Epaulet Mountain 7/27/2005

Ryan Schilling and I had talked about making an after-work hike of these trivial peaks a while back while we were hiking Rosalie and opted to skip the traverse to these two. It was finally a convenient time and we set out at 6:30 on the drive to Idaho Springs and the Mount Evans Road. The temperature was a nice cool-down from the city when we got out. We made very quick work of Epaulet, though ended up a little too far north due to my faulty thinking that Epaulet was behind the false summit seen on the north side of the summit top. This probably cost us 90 seconds. We enjoyed the colors changing as we joined the sun on its descent. The trip to "Epaulie", the ranked one of these two, was equally fast, and we set back out, ending at the vehicle again before sunset. It will be nice not need to return up this road given the many times I've been hiking (twice in winter) and riding on it.
