Steve Castellano was descending a boulder-strewn slope near Snowmass Lake after reaching the summit of Snowmass Mountain when a rock gave way under his foot. A rockslide began and carried Castellano with it, resulting in his death about 30 minutes later from head injuries.Source: Aspen Times

Mark Golden was descending the West face when he fell and tumbled an estimated 1,000' to 1,500' and came to rest above Little Gem Lake. His body was carried out two days later by search and rescue.Source: Aspen Times
