He was later rescued.Source: www.peakware.com August 3, 1980Art Porter was on the North Face Direct Route when he became off route and fell 30 to 40 feet on loose rock, being stopped by his rope which caught on an outcrop near a gendarme. He suffered broken and cut fingers and a broken ankle. His partner, Brent Dubach secured Porter and went for help, which arrived the following morning.Source: Accidents in North American Mountaineering, 1981 February 23, 1992Steve Gordon was swept away by an avalanche at the 11,800 foot level while skiing. Apparently a 300 foot wide snow slab came loose an dropped 1,500 feet onto the climbing party. He borke his wrist, sustained cuts to the face. After attempting to hike back to camp, he could not continue, and his partner left to get help. He suffered multiple cuts and bruises as well as a collapsed lung and a broken pelvis.
