David Syring slipped and fell 800 feet to his death in a rockslide while descending. Jon Sherman was also descending fell on ice and gained control only feet away from Syring, who he had seen descending earlier. Body recovery efforts were called off due to the unstable nature of the slope.Source: Pueblo Chieftan
