August 8, 1994

Christian Burke did not return from a climbing attempt. Rescue searches were called off and he was not found.

September 12, 1996

Rary Reisinger, 32, became lost for two days after separating from his group. He was found East of Cross Creek Trail.

July 26, 1997

Kathleen Kinderfather, 67, became lost for five days after separating from her climbing partner. She was found on a talus slope where she took shelter.

August 9, 1999

William Fercheck, 68, was descending from the peak when he became lost in a gully. He was later found after spending four nights.

ina May Smith, 60, became lost on the descent before she was found two days later by search dogs on the talus.

July 21, 2002

A group of eight climbers became separated, one climber sustained knee injuries, and both parties spent part of the night on the mountain, before rescuers located the parties.

August 20, 2004

Bob Koets became separated from his party of ten and spent the night near Reed's Meadow in the rain without gear before rescuers found him and airlifted him out. Another member of this party was airlifted out the day of the hike due to illness.

A 50-year-old female hiked ahead of her group and became lost, not being found until the following day.

An unknown male became lost near the summit and was not found until the follwoing day by rescue crews.

Michelle Vanek was last seen on the Halo route below Holy Cross' summit before search and rescue consisting of over 200 people was called off October 1st. It is presumed she did not survive.

August 15, 2006

Alex Storke separated from his group and descended while the others made their way to the summit. He was found by a massive Search and Rescue crew two days later.
