July 6, 1984

Joseph Stolla fell when a large rock he was using as a hold broke off. He died from his injuries.

Paul Rockwood fell 600 feet to his death while climbing the South Ridge.

August 30, 1999

Amarillo Judge John Jay Thorpe fell several times when a rock came loose on the descent. He suffered multiple head and neck injuries, perishing 30 minutes after the fall.

June 30, 2001

Kurt Franz fell into a steep gully while descending and spent 3 nights in a sleeping bag before help arrived and he was rescued. Franz received a broken nose, collapsed lung, broken foot, three fractured vertebrae, head injuries, and broken ribs.
