Black Lake Accidents



July 8, 1953

Paul Conrad was ascending a snowfield when he lost his footing and slid to the base, impacting rocks. He suffered a broken wrist and several bruises.

January 28, 2003

An unknown 60 year old male was bound for Black Lake when he fell on ice, causing a concussion. He was found by two hikers in the area and carried out by search and rescue. He had apparently hit his head with his trekking pole and was vomiting blood while being transported.

February 28, 2004

An unknown climber was ascending the snow-filled West Gully near Black Lake when an avalanche swept him over a cliff face. Luckily he was roped, and was not injured as the avalanche passed over him.
